THE ITINERARY

Day 1
Arrival in Cali, Colombia: Your motorcycle journey starts with your arrival in Cali by mid afternoon. We will arrange transport from the airport and take you to the hotel. Incredible welcome dinner this evening, included in the tour package.

Day 2
Cali to Montenegro, Colombia: Head north out of Cali, winding along the banks of the Cauca River. Today's views will be mountainous and the pavement twisty. This night is spent overlooking the valley floor and enjoying a small, authentic Colombia town. Stay in Montenegro.

Day 3
Montenegro to Santa Fe de Antioquia – It’s twisties until we drop; all day we are in tight twisties with spectacular views of the beautiful coffee region. We visit the historic village of Jerico high on a mountaintop before making our way through the Cauca River valley up to the colonial town of Santa Fe de Antioquia. We have the chance to visit the wooden-and-steel Western Bridge, built in 1800. Stay in Santa Fe de Antioquia.

Day 4
Santa Fe de Antioquia to Doradal – After a nice breakfast, we make our way up over the mountain bowl where Medellin lays and visit a famous monolith rock, El Penol, in the lake district. After a hike to the top and lunch, we make our way to the Magdalena River Valley and the home of Pablo Escobar’s ranch. Stay in Doradal.

Day 5
Doradal to Giron – In Doradal we can visit the iconic estate of Pablo Escobar’s ranch full of animals and a Pablo Escobar museum. We make our way through the cattle country and old-school oil exploration to find a curvy road that will lead us up to Giron, a colonial town founded in 1631 and known for its Spanish architecture. Stay in Giron.

Day 6
Giron to Barichara – The road will once again be a curvy ride. It takes us through the spectacular Chicamocha Canyon on switchback curves and a steep ascent before passing San Gil – a favorite vacation spot for Colombians. We’ll spend the last part of the day on narrow back roads as we make our way up to Barichara, on the edge of the Chicamocha Canyon. Stay in Barichara.

Day 7
Barichara to Villa de Leyva – We leave this awesome colonial town with a spectacular view and make our way through the mountains to end in the wonderful little colonial village Villa de Leyva. It has Latin America's biggest cobblestone square. A couple of road stretches are under construction and some gravel should be anticipated. Stay in Villa de Leyva.

Day 8
Barichara to Villa de Leyva – We leave this awesome colonial town with a spectacular view and make our way through the mountains to end in the wonderful little colonial village Villa de Leyva. It has Latin America's biggest cobblestone square. A couple of road stretches are under construction and some gravel should be anticipated. Stay in Villa de Leyva.

Day 9
Villa de Leyva to Honda – From Villa de Leyva, we continue in the high mountains to Zipaquira where we stop to see the Salt Cathedral 985 feet (300 meters) underground. After lunch we will once again be in tight curves and twists going back down into the Magdalena River Valley. Once a busy river port town, Honda has a nice little historic center. We stay in a beautifully renovated colonial hotel in Honda.

Day 10
Honda to Salento – Today’s task: ride the ascent of the Los Nevados del Ruiz volcano at 13,780 feet (4,200 meters) altitude and descend on the other side. Many, many curves and incredible views. In clear weather we can see the snowcapped volcano. We end up in the amazing coffee region for another night. Stay near Salento.

Day 11
Free Day in Salento – If you prefer not to spend the day relaxing, there are plenty of activities to do around Salento. After a great breakfast we will visit a coffee plantation and go into the Cocora Valley where the world's tallest wax palm trees grow. An otherworldly atmosphere awaits. Stay near Salento.
Day 12
Salento to Cali – After breakfast, we will make our way back through the Cauca Valley and arrive in Cali in the afternoon. Here we return the bikes before checking in at the hotel for the last night in the salsa capital of the world – Cali. A first-class farewell dinner in the city tonight! Stay in Cali.

Day 13
It is fly-out day. We will take you to the airport in time for your flight. If you wish to stay longer, we are happy to help you make hotel reservations. We strongly suggest visiting Cartagena for a day or two before or after the motorcycle trip.

ROAD CONDITIONS:
This is an all-paved tour which might encounter short unpaved sections in areas under construction. The pavement in Colombia can be rough and unpredictable but also exciting and engaging.
