This is a motorcycle adventure through Bolivia that encompasses great riding through the back roads of Bolivia. Ride over the Salar Uyuni, through the Andes Mountain Range, and the famed Road of Death.
ROAD CONDITIONS:
This is a paved and gravel road itinerary. Offroad skills are a MUST for this trip. It is about 40 percent gravel surface.

THE ITINERARY
Day 1 - Arrival Day, Cochabamba
Arrival in the city of Cochabamba. We’ll pick you up from the airport and settle you into your hotel before our welcome dinner at one of the city’s best restaurants.
Day 2 - Cochabamba to Valle Grande 200miles/321km
A great first day is in store for us. It is a reasonably long day today giving us a chance to really settle in and get comfortable on the bikes. The scenery is spectacular and the road a great mix of dirt, cobble and pavement. Stay in Valle Grande.
Day 3 - Valle Grande to La Higuera 40miles/64km
Though a short day, the ride into La Higuera is world class. The oasis of La Higuera is a highlight for our riders. Stay in La Higuera.
Day 4 - La Higuera to Sucre 180miles/289km
A reasonably big day is in store for us today starting with a fabulous dirt road which few tourists have ever seen. This road is described by adventure riders as “one of the best adventure riding roads in the world”. We are sure you’ll agree. We cap that off with a stunning climb on winding paved roads to the town of Sucre – also known as the “white city”. Sucre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is undoubtedly Bolivia’s prettiest city. Stay in Sucre.
Day 5 - Sucre Free Day
Sucre has so much to see and do that a day off here at this point in the trip is just about perfect. Enjoy the café/restaurant scene, visit some of the many excellent cultural museums and take the opportunity to have some laundry done. Stay in Sucre.
Day 6 - Sucre to Potosi 100miles/160km
It’s a short, half day ride on excellent paved roads today that leads us to the city of Potosi. We’ll arrive in time for a traditional lunch and then a chance, for those keen, to take a tour into the mines of Cerro Rico. Once the richest silver mines in the world, this ‘hill’ single handedly propped up the Spanish empire. So much silver was taken from it by the Spanish it’s been suggested they could have built a bridge of pure silver from Bolivia to Spain and still had enough silver to take across it! The mining conditions, though, are desperate and dangerous. Be prepared to have your eyes opened by the living and working conditions of the many Bolivian families scratching out a living from what’s left. Stay in Potosi.
Day 7 - Potosi to Colchani 130miles/209km
You could follow the easy route along the highway today but we've found a couple of wicked detours that we are sure the group will love. Narrow dirt roads, forgotten villages – a day riding through authentic Bolivia. Another example of why we ride motorcycles – to see the stuff normal tourists don’t have access to! We will finish the day visiting the nostalgic train cemetery in Uyuni. You will see the last train that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid robbed. The stay in Colchani is a Hotel made of salt.
Day 8 - Colchani Free Day Up to 100miles/260km
A day on the Uyuni Salt Flats. Today will be a day you’ll never forget. We’ll ride straight onto the vast dry lake that is the salt plains – over 10,000sq km of nothing but salt! It is an amazing experience – often described as otherworldly – riding on this surface. There will be plenty of time to take some of those wild perspective photos you’ve probably seen and generally enjoy the feeling of being, literally, in the middle of nothing. We’ll enjoy a lunch out on an unusual island which boasts fossils of coral before heading back to our hotel. Stay in Colchani.
Day 9 - Colchani to Oruro 150miles/241km
Depending on the season, the sight of field after field of quinoa will add color to the day. After a break for lunch we’ll be continuing down the highway and enjoying an easy couple of hours to the city of Oruro, a mining town, and perhaps Bolivia’s most indigenous city. Stay in Oruro.
Day 10 - Oruro to Quime 105miles/168km
Are you ready to go about as high as you can go on a road in Bolivia? How does 4780m (15680ft) above sea level sound? From the top you’ll enjoy the most amazing descent down ancient glacial valleys to the tiny town of Quime. Quime is often surrounded by cloud and perches on the edge of the Amazon Rainforest. Our accommodation tonight will be rustic but character-filled. Stay in Quime.
Day 11 - Quime to Chulumani 117miles/189km
An all dirt day today. We’ll be descending into the Amazon rainforest on winding, narrow dirt roads. It’s a chance to see how the lowlands people of Bolivia live compared to the highlands people we’ve been seeing to date. It’s a long day and we’ll need to get away early to maximize the scenery and stunning riding. Stay in Chulumani.
Day 12- Chulumani to Coroico 50miles/80km
We continue in the upper reaches of the Amazon rainforest and today’s ride will see us following a little used dirt road between the two Yungas towns of Chulumani and Coroico. It is a great ride with stunning views. When we get in, you will have an option to go zip lining...why not? Stay in Coroico.
Day 13 - Coroico to La Paz 40 epic miles/64km
Not a long way to go today, in fact you could do it in about 3 hours riding time, but we have a big twist in store – DEATH ROAD. That’s right: you’d better take a few moments to settle those butterflies because The World’s Most Dangerous Road is not for the faint hearted. It’s an incredible way to end the tour, not least because it leads us to the city of La Paz – in its own way breathtaking. We’ll arrive in time for a hot shower before heading out to celebrate the farewell to our adventure at a great restaurant. Stay in La Paz.
