This very challenging India motorcycle tour features a series of high passes on precarious Himalayan roads along the Spiti River Valley and farther north in the Indian provinces of Himachel Pradesh and Ladakh. Prepare to spend several nights above 10,000 feet with one camp up at 14,000 feet. You will cross over the highest motorable pass in the world at Umling-La (19,024 feet), Tanglang La Pass (17,480 feet) among others. Touch Tibet on this spectacular motorcycle adventure of a lifetime.

Road Conditions: This motorcycle adventure features challenging riding encompassing paved roads to dirt roads mixed with extreme altitude. The mountainous roads of India are a mixture of stream crossings, rocks, gravel, goat herds, high cliffs and narrow passages. Off road experience is a must for riders wanting to join this trip.

THE ITINERARY
DAY 1 - Arrival in Kullu
Your adventure starts with your arrival in at the Kullu Airport. You will be met there and transported to the outdoor recreation capital of India, Manali. Hotel check in and unwind. Meet the other touring members this evening at the Welcome Dinner.
DAY 2 - Manali Day Ride 60 miles/96 km
Manali Day Ride: The first thing we will be doing today is going over the motorcycles, getting paperwork finalized. The we will do a Rohtang Pass Accent: This is a 13,000 foot pass with epic vistas and a great opportunity for your body to acclimatize to the high altitude you will be experiencing for the rest of the trip. Stay in Manali
DAY 3 - Manali to Shoja 65 miles/106km
Ride south out of Manali, before veering onto a country road that climbs towards the sky. No one can prepare you for the exhilaration of the traffic in India, nor the spectacular forest scenery! Stay at 8,000 feet, high in the mountains at Shoja.
DAY 4 - Shoja to Rampur 77 miles/124km
Climb to nearly 10,000 feet over scenic Jalori Pass (3,220m) before riding on to Sarahan. Stunning mountains scenery abounds. Check out the historic temple at Bhimakali, from the 12th Century. Stay near Rampur
DAY 5 - Sarahan to Kalpa 52 miles/86km
Ride the amazing mountain road as it winds its way along steep cliffs under the shadow of glacial peaks. The road turns rough and the canyon walls get steeper. Your lodge is located in a grove of apple trees with views of 20,000 foot Himalaya peaks. Stay in Kalpa
DAY 6 - Kalpa to Nako 67 miles/108km
Apply for an Inner Line Permit in the morning (for travel near the Tibetan border). Ride the "world's most treacherous road" up the Spiti River Valley. Camp at 11,000 feet in the herding village of Nako and marvel at the mountain scenery in this quaint Bhoti village.
DAY 7 - Nako to Kaza 69 miles/111km
Ride through spectacular mountain scenery all day long! Traffic will be seldom, and the breathtaking scenery will overwhelm you. The road along the Spiti River was featured in "Ice Road Truckers" for this reason. Stay at Kaza, home to the world's highest gas station
DAY 8 - Kaza to Chandra Tal 59 miles/96km
Ride your Royal Enfield over stunning Kunzum Pass (4,551m). Venture into the remote world of the Himalayas this day, where only the sheep herders roam. Tonight features rustic camping to a cathedral of mountains all around. Camp at Chandra Tal.
DAY 9 - Chandra Tal to Keylong 71 miles/115km
The adventure continues as you follow the Beas River up the valley we head over Rohtang Jot (3,978mtrs) which is exhilarating by bike. This will be our most challenging riding of the trip. You will be staying in a hotel at 10,000 feet tonight in a town so remote, it is locked in by snow during the long winter. Stay in Keylong.
DAY 10 - Keylong to Sarchu 66 miles/107km
Today we pass over the Bara Lacha La Pass (4830mtrs), (73 km from Keylong) - the originating point of Chandra, Bhaga and Yunan Rivers. Arrive at Sarchu for a night of camping under the stars. Camp fire and a cathedral of mountain tops await you. This will be our highest elevation tent stay (14,523 ft) Stay at Sarchu.
DAY 11 - Sarchu to Leh 155 miles/250km
Your motorcycle adventure takes you over three very high passes - Nakee La Pass (4,740 meters) , Lachulang La Pass (5,066 meters) and Tanglang La (5,359 meters). Tanglang La It is the second highest motor able mountain pass in India after Khardung La. Hotel Stay in Leh this evening.
DAY 12 - Free day in Leh
Today MotoQuest will arrange your inner line permits for the Nubra Valley while you explore the area. Check out the Alchi Monastry (oldest monastery in Ladakh) or stroll around town. Stay in Manali.
DAY 13 - Leh - Hanle 153 miles/246 km
We ride east towards the highest pass in the world today, and hang our hat in Hanle, a historical town in Ladakh known for its Astronomical Observatory. Stay in Hanle.
DAY 14 - Hanle - Umling-La - Hanle 70 miles/112km
After today, you can say you have ridden to the highest elevation. We will set out from Hanle and literally touch the sky at Umling-La Pass (19,024 feet). Back to Hanle for the evening.
DAY 15 - Hanle - Pangong: 150 miles/241 km
We will be riding the the otherworldly Himalayan altiplano with landscapes that are equally precious, remote and desolate. We stay at the edge of the Lake of Pangong, with it's crystal clear saline water. Stay at Pangong Lake.
DAY 16 - Pangong - Nubra: 93 miles/150km
This landscape won't stop impressing, as we enter the Nubra Valley, home the the crossroades of civilizations. You will pass Buddhist Temples and Islamic Minarets...you are close the the Pakistan border and truly in another world. Stay in Nubra.
DAY 17 - Nubra Valley - Leh: 93 miles/150km
