The sun begins to set on another thrilling Alaska riding season. With the summer behind us, we’d like to take a look back at some of our favorite moments from Anchorage in 2017.
There were couple of renters that really stood out this season, like our friend Christopher P. who took a BMW F 800 GS up to Prudhoe Bay.
Chris was a fan of MotoQuest Founder Phil Freeman, and brought a copy of Phil’s award-winning book — The Adventurous Motorcyclist’s Guide to Alaska — for him to sign! Phil even helped Chris plan out some special routes using his Butler Motorcycle Map.
Then, there were brothers Joel and Justin who had the trip of a lifetime on a pair of BMW R 1200 GSs! They rode 3,300 miles from Seattle to Alaska, and from Anchorage back down to Portland!
They even took some incredible drone footage while riding along the famous Top of the World Highway in the Yukon! Click here to watch the video.
Some of our renters even braved tough weather conditions in the name of adventure, like Mac from Florida! Mac ditched the Sunshine State’s unbearable heat for a ride to Deadhorse along the notorious Atigun Pass.
This road is not normally snowy during the summer months of June, July and August, but if you venture out during the early season (April-May) you just might encounter similar conditions.
Of course, we can’t talk about the season without mentioning the fantastic Matari custom group that came all the way from Indonesia to explore Alaska.
Phil, Jim and Chief took the group of 12 riders from the Indonesian Bikers Group and showed them the very best of Alaska! You too can build a custom MotoQuest trip of a lifetime!
We couldn’t let the guys have all the fun this season! RoKo took a custom group of fearless women out on the Alaskan landscape for 1,600 miles including crossing the Arctic Circle on the Dalton Highway. RoKo will be leading our Alaska Women’s Tour next year!
We also put our fleet of Honda Africa Twins to the test this season, racking up 30,000 miles of hard Alaska miles.
