The fiesta begins in Las Vegas because flights are plentiful and it’s only minutes away from spectacular scenery. From there, we’ll swing by the engineering marvel that is the Hoover Dam (maybe take a few dam pictures and make all the dam jokes you want); cruise through Kingman, the heart of historic Route 66; befriend burros in Oatman; then land in Lake Havasu for the night. If you cut loose like a spring breaker, consider chugging something with electrolytes, because we’re riding through Joshua Tree National Park to Palm Desert the next day.
You and the rest of the revelers will soar through the curves of the San Jacinto Mountains, up into the San Bernardino National Forest, past Big Bear Lake, and call it a night near the Rim of the World in Lake Arrowhead. Rest up, because the twists and turns keep coming as we wind our way down through Angeles National Forest and up to the southern end of Sequoia National Forest. Kernville is an untold paradise for motorcyclists, with spectacular views and sweepers. Everyone who has ridden here has their own favorite segments of serpentine slab, and if you’re with us on this journey, you’ll experience our preferred paved paths.Â
Stretch and hydrate, bacchanalian, because our next stop is Death Valley National Park, where temperatures this time of year tend to be reasonable but nonetheless toast the unprepared. You can truly say you have friends in low places when you ride through the lowest point of elevation in North America: Badwater Basin. It lies 282 feet below sea level! After we wrap it up for the night in Furnace Creek, we’ll swig… water, or whatever else makes you happy. You’re a grown up, you do you.
Our final riding day has a few side trips in Death Valley, with Ubehebe Crater, Scotty’s Castle, and Artists Palette being just a few. At the end of the day, the merriment will conclude where it originated: Sin City.Â
Let the good times roll!
Haven’t had enough moto-merrymaking? Take two days of rest or whatever you prefer while in Vegas, before departing for our American Southwest Adventure heading out through Utah and into Colorado before looping back around to Las Vegas.
