We’re mostly staying on PCH and enjoying exhilarating, twisty roads whenever we absolutely have to ride inland. Care to join?
Pacific Coast Highway – Northbound

The fun starts on Friday, April 30, 2021, when all of the riders and our MotoQuest guides meet up as a group in Long Beach to break bread (or cauliflower— food sensitivities, we know). It’s a great way to get familiar with each other before we’re all geared up. Next morning, we’ll do thorough motorcycle orientations, have a brief pre-ride meeting, and hit the road!
On the first day of riding, we’ll take a short jaunt to Ojai along the infamous Malibu coast. Next day, we’ve got a few options to get to pristine Morro Bay, but if we’re rolling early, it’ll be all about the curvy canyon roads. Bid farewell to the iconic Morro Rock as we wind our way up PCH past the Elephant Seals and Hurst Castle in San Simeon, through Big Sur, and across the Golden Gate Bridge to spend the next two nights in the bay town of Tiburon.
We’ve recently modified this itinerary to include a day off from traveling so guests can either have a free day to explore the city of San Francisco or join our team as we cruise the backroads of the northern Bay Area. You’re also welcome to get some rest and relaxation. Your call.
As we continue north to Mendocino for the night, you may notice the trees growing more robust. We’ll envelop ourselves within the enormous coastal conifers as we ride through Redwoods National Park onto the Avenue of the Giants towards Eureka. About half way through our next day, we continue to ride through old growth forests as we cross into Oregon and take in views of the historic Umpqua Lighthouse before landing in Florence.
The Pacific Northwest beaches are dramatic to say the least. We will observe cliffs, haystack rocks emerging from the ocean, forests, and wildlife along the way to Astoria for our final night by the sea. Our journey concludes with curves through forest and farmland as we make our way into Portland to hand over our trusty steeds and feast together one last time. You’re welcome to fly home the next day, or add a few days to your motorcycle rental to explore more of the region.
